An Invitation from Contemplative Outreach of Central Iowa
Contemplative Outreach of Central Iowa invites you to participate in a time of discernment for our chapter.
Our world has changed greatly in the past few years and in July we will be meeting via Zoom to consider how we as a chapter might better support you and our local prayer groups in the practice of Centering Prayer.
Our discernment will have two phases. First, we will meet from 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Wednesday, July 13 to consider what sustains our chapter now in our weekly CP groups and what we need to do in the future. (What really feeds us in our centering prayer groups?) Then we will spend two weeks in prayerful discernment before meeting again from 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Wednesday, July 27 to consider how we might serve in our chapter going forward.
Marie Howard and Carol Quest will be guiding us in our discernment.
Marie Howard lived in Davenport, Iowa prior to moving to Los Angeles in 2001. Marie helped establish our local chapter and recalls leading an Introduction to Centering Prayer at the Emmaus House in 1998. Currently, Marie is the Coordinator of Volunteers for Contemplative Outreach International.
Carol Quest is a member of the Contemplative Outreach International Governing Board and a Centering Prayer group facilitator and a commissioned presenter of the Centering Prayer Introductory Program. She has served on the Centering Prayer Introductory Program Service Team and currently is a member of the Chapter Support Service Team.
We hope you will participate in one or both sessions on July 13 and July 27 starting at 6:30 pm.
