 Ames: Advent Silent Retreat

“THERE IS A BLAZE OF LIGHT IN EVERY WORD”

Join us for a quiet morning of prayer and reflection on the first Saturday of Advent preparing yourself to more fully enter into the spirit of Christmas.

Using the words of Leonard Cohen from his song, Hallelejah, this retreat will begin and end with Centering Prayer. The rest of the morning will include the opportunity to learn more about the contemplative prayer practice of Lectio Divina. The morning will provide time for silent contemplation. Come join us for a morning of preparation for the true meaning of Christmas.

 18-Hour Lenten Retreat

Beginning with a simple supper on Friday evening and concluding with lunch on Saturday, we'll share about 18 hours of silence, prayer and reflection. In addition to ample Centering Prayer time shared together, other spiritual disciplines will be offered for prayer, inner work and worship.

On this weekend Centering Prayer Retreat, we will explore CP as an integral part of your 12 step recovery program. Some prior knowledge or practice of CP or other silent meditation practice is desirable, but not required. You can learn Centering Prayer and deepen your practice either way. This retreat is 12-step supported and will include at least one (open) 12-step meeting.

8-Day Post-Intensive Centering Prayer Retreat

September 20-27, 2019

St. Benedict Center, Schuyler, Nebraska

This Post-Intensive Retreat will consist of continuous periods of Centering Prayer from before sunrise until the dinner hour, with breaks for meals. Attendees may participate in as much prayer as they are called to. Short pauses for entering and leaving the silence will be offered every 30 minutes. There will be no teaching and no reading during this immersion in silence. Those who wish may attend daily mass at the Priory.
